Pass Plus - get the skills to keep you safe

PASS PLUS is a training scheme for new drivers. It's much more than just a few extra lessons. This specially designed course by the Driving Standards Agency (DSA), with the help of insurers and the driving instruction industry, helps you:

• gain valuable driving experience safely
  
• build on your existing skills and knowledge
  
• reduce your risk of being in a road crash
  
• save money on car insurance premiums
  
• boost your confidence
  
• give peace of mind to your family

Pass Plus consists of six practical modules which cover driving in town, in all weathers, on rural roads, at night, on dual carriageways and on motorways. You can take it at any time within the first 12 month of passing your test

there is no test at the end of it - your driving will be continually assessed and you must successfully complete all the modules in the course to an achieved or exceeded standard:

• achieved - successfully reached the standard required for each of the competencies
• exceeded - exceeded the required standard for each of the competencies
  

In exceptional circumstances, if a module can't be done on the road it will be covered in a theory session. The highest level you can reach is 'achieved' as you've not been able to demonstrate the relevant practical skills

Don't worry if you haven't got a car at the moment, you may be able to defer the discount for up to two years. Again, check with your insurance company

If you passed your test more than a year ago you should check that you'll be eligible for the discounts on offer from your insurance company before you take the course

Pass Plus modules

Pass Plus has 6 modules, and you don't have to take them all at once. The way you complete the course is up to you . . . all in a day? no problem! one hour a week? no problem!

Urban driving

Sharpen your skills of driving in towns and cities. Handle every situation better, be more aware and less prone to accidents. Weelz can show you the skills you need to stay safe

Rural driving

Your Weelz instructor will help you become a much safer driver on country roads. You'll discover how to look for the signs of what may happen next, how to deal with other rural road users and how to stay safe in the much higher National speed limits

Motorway driving

Driving fast on 3 lanes takes more concentration than you'd realise. On this module, you'll discover the tips and techniques your instructor uses to enter and leave the motorway safely, and how to stay safe on today's busy and congested roads

Dual carriageways

You'll find all sorts of other road users on dual carriageways . . . from high speed cars to low speed tractors and trucks . . . you need to deal with them all safely. This module will give you a feel for driving on dual carriageways and make sure you reach your destination safely

Night driving

With dazzle from other drivers and the higher chance of rain, night driving presents a lot of new situations for you to deal with. Get the skills to stay safe and follow your Weelz instructors advice

All weather driving

Rain, sleet, snow, fog, high winds and many more natural situations call for care and skill in your driving. Bad weather can strike at any time, not just in the winter, so get to know how to deal with it and how to prepare your car for the worst that nature can throw at you!
